Roses are the most popular flower on earth, and it's not hard to see why. There are over 30,000 varieties, and they come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Roses are also known for their beautiful scent, which is why they are often used in perfumes. To test the freshness of a rose, gently squeeze the rose where the petals meet the stem. If it's firm, the rose is fresh. If it's soft, it's past its prime. Also, listen for a faint rustling sound when you move your fingers across the undersides of the petals.
